Mobility Workshop - MOVE IT OR LOSE IT: SHOULDERS

I am SO excited to kick off the year with the newest (and nerdiest!) version of my sold-out signature workshop, MOVE IT OR LOSE IT. This time, I’m taking things to the next level!

Every time I delivered this workshop in the past, I kept thinking, “I wish I had more time to explain this!” So now, I’m bringing you a body-part-specific deep dive—starting with the shoulders!

MOVE IT OR LOSE IT: SHOULDERS

Unlock the full potential of one of the most versatile—and often the most neglected—joints in your body: your shoulders!

Our modern lifestyles play a huge role in making our shoulders tight and reducing our capacity to enjoy free, functional movement like hunching over screens, repetitive movements, stress and tension or sedentary habits.

We’ll explore how these impact your yoga practice (and also shoulder health), and work through practical techniques to prevent injuries and keep shoulders mobile, both on and off the mat.

You’ll also learn why certain anatomical shoulder restrictions might make it feel like you’re “hitting a wall” in a pose —and what to do about it!

This workshop is designed to give you the knowledge to help you improve mobility, flexibility, strength, and range of motion.

By the end of this session, you’ll have a better understanding of how to care for your shoulders during your practice, apply specific drills that fit seamlessly into your movement routine or use as a foundation to build your own.

What We’ll Cover:

  1. Understanding the Shoulder Joint – A quick dive into anatomy: how your shoulders move and why mobility matters.

  2. The Role of Shoulders in Yoga Practice – Exploring key poses like Downward Dog, Plank, Wild Thing, Dolphin, and Wheel Pose. Learn how a body-friendly and mobility-focused approach to these poses can prevent injuries and make your practice sustainable.

  3. Mobility Exercises – How targeted drills and Controlled Articular Rotations (CARS) create space and freedom.

  4. Injury Prevention on the Mat – What to avoid that may lead to strain (eg in binds)

  5. Strengthening for Stability – Simple ways to build strength to protect your shoulders long-term.

🗓 When: Sunday 23rd March

Attending the gym alone or for the first time can be quite intimidating, so I want to show you that everybody and every body can exist on the gym floor.

In this session, we will learn how to incorporate bigger weights into mobility routines and how strength training with machines can benefit your practice and overall lifestyle. You don’t need to know how the machines work to attend the session—I will be there to guide you safely.

  • Sunday 17th November:

    • 12-1pm: first group, approx. 6 people

    • 1-2pm: second group, approx. 6 people

  • Sunday 24th November:

MOBILITY & STRENGTH X YOGA SESSIONS vol I: Small Weights

I am so excited to introduce you to my new program MOBILITY & STRENGTH X YOGA SESSIONS! As my yoga practice progressed, I noticed something was missing. It was hard to admit, but I realized that I shouldn't rely solely on yoga as my only form of movement. While yoga offers incredible benefits for flexibility, balance, and overall movement potential, it doesn't fully address all aspects of physical fitness.

Yoga lacks push and pull dominant movements, we don't work on grip strength and wrist flexion, we don't work with load and hamstring strength is important, not just stretching.

I found that incorporating strength training and mobility exercises into my routine filled the gaps that yoga couldn't. Strength training helped build muscle and improve overall endurance, while mobility drills enhanced my joint health and range of motion. By combining these elements, I developed a more well-rounded approach that complemented my yoga practice and improved my overall movement potential.

That's why I created the MOBILITY & STRENGTH X YOGA SESSIONS – to offer you a holistic approach that integrates the best of all three disciplines. These sessions integrate elements of mobility and strength training to support your yoga practice but also daily lifestyle.

Experience the best of these worlds with a unique program combining mobility drills and specific strength routines designed to enhance your range of motion but also build strength.

What to Expect:

  1. Mobility Exercises: Improve your mobility, flexibility and joint health with targeted drills that prepare different areas of your body for physical activity and reduce the risk of injury.

  2. Strength Training: Build muscle and improve overall strength with functional exercises that challenge different muscle groups and promote a stronger, more resilient body.

  3. Yoga Practice: Learn how mobility complements your yoga practice and how to incorporate and work with your range of motion in your asana practice.

SESSION VOL 1: The first session will take place at East of Eden Walthamstow, Studio 1, 14 Hatherley Mews, London E17 4QP. In this session, we will learn how to incorporate small weights into mobility routines, as well as how strength training can benefit your practice and overall lifestyle.

*PLEASE NOTE IS RECOMMENDED TO ATTEND BOTH SESSIONS AND THEREFORE ARE OFFERED TOGETHER. HOWEVER SINGLE SESSION DROP IN IS ALSO AVAILABLE.

Move it or Lose it: Mobility for Yoga workshop Vol II

Do you notice yourself with limited mobility in the shoulders? Are you working on a specific pose and you notice that you are literally hitting a wall with your body? Or feel physically stuck?

Well… let me tell you something. You might have encountered the end of your mobility or range. If you are keen to expand your range, your possibilities and learn about mobility and functional range conditioning, join me for my next workshop!

Mobility is the ability to move or be moved freely and easily. But mobility is also the way we exist: we move from place to place, and so does our body.

Mobility training combines mobility exercises that increase the range of movements and motions your body can perform to apply to your yoga practice. And it depends from person to person, as the requirements and needs differ. It is a great support for your yoga practice because it bridges the gap between flexibility, movement and motion.

In this workshop we will explore how mobility can help supplement your daily life, yoga practice and avoid injuries. From shoulder to hip, spine and ankle we will look at specific movements and drills that will help you gain mobility, flexibility, balance and strength.

You will also be able to take away what you learned to create your own mini mobility/maintenance/recovery routine to focus on the areas where you need it the most.

THIS IS FOR ALL LEVELS & BEGINNERS MORE THAN WELCOMED!
